Today, the extended end-of-the year Academic Board session was held at the Pedagogical University.
Those present were greeted by the Chairman of the Board, the NA Deputy Galust Sahakyan highlighting that despite the reduced number of students in the country the University continues to keep the best of its traditions.
The Board members watched the film prepared by the Department of Mass Media and Public Relations about the APSU policy, innovations in the academic sphere, its achievements in the current year, which was followed by the report of the Rector of the Pedagogical University Rouben Mirzakhanyan.
The Head of the University presented the income and expenditure performance report as well as the budget estimate for 2018.
Likewise, in his report the Rector spoke about the annually observed decrease in the number of applicants, however highlighting the fact that the number of applicants to the Pedagogical University was remaining unchanged.
In addition, the Rector emphasized that in 2018 it would be possible to have an increase of students as a result of reviewing the University’s former training opportunities in a number of disciplines, particularly, law and special educations.
“The Pedagogical is open for foreign applicants too, it has relevant teaching resources.”
The member of the Board, Doctor of Culturology, Professor Hravard Hakobyan noticed in her speech that in the current year too the University made huge work and had good progress.
By evaluating the University’s achievements in the ongoing year, the President of the Student Council Nersik Margaryan expressed acknowledgements for the opportunities created for students at the ASPU and for its student-centered policy, highlighting that student’s voices were heard therein.
“Students’ excellent academic progress, community involvement and volunteering activities were highly appreciated at the Pedagogical.”
The ASPU Board evaluated the activities performed at the University in 2017 as sufficient, and as a result of voting, unanimously approved the income and expenditure annual estimates for 2018.
“The Pedagogical University has still a lot to do, it should overcome the issues existing in the field of pedagogy, therewith contributing to the solution of a number of issues in the country”, Galust Sahakyan concluded the Board session.
