Today, the Library of the Pedagogical University was enriched with great pieces of Russian literature.
Around 300 books of leading Russian publishing houses were presented to the ASPU Library by “The House of Russian abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn” and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Yerevan.
“A house, without books, is like a body without a soul; thank you for giving a new breath to the Library of the Pedagogical University”, mentioned the APSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs by quoting from Cicerone, as well as expressed acknowledgements for the donation of books.
Likewise, the Vice-Rector assures that in spite of the fact that modern technologies are occupying more and more part in our life day by day, still many people stay true to books as their good friends and leaders, thanks to which it becomes possible to look into future, and to imagine the past.
The Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Yerevan Mr. Sergey Rybinski is visiting the ASPU reading hall for the first time, where he confesses that he is really astonished.
Besides, the latter outlined and highly appreciated the initiative of the “The House of Russian abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn” to donate books and assured that each and every reader of those books would realise the significance of centuries -old relations between Russia and Armenia. Similarly, Mr. Sergey Rybinski is convinced that the Pedagogical University, where a big number of students study Russian Language and Literature, is considered as one of the centres of Russian studies and Russian language development centre, and that this literature would contribute to dissemination and development of Russian language.
In his turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mickaelyan also thanked for the gift and highlighted that it was a unique present for the students, lecturers and all visitors of the library in general. As well as he is looking forward to having this cooperation on continuous basis.
The Public Relations Development Officer of “The House of Russian abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn” Mr. Victor Leonidov states that despite numerous difficulties, Armenian and Russian people have been able to maintain their own culture. Even today he could still remember how ten years ago, after his presentation in Sydney, many Armenians approached him and started convincing that there could be no such wall that would set a boundary between the friendship of Russian and Armenian people. Upon introducing current activities and future tasks of the Russian cultural house Mr. Victor Leonidov outlined the importance of the upcoming opening ceremony of a museum and noted the following, “We not only preserve, but also spread out the Russian culture, literature and traditions where it is expected; and we have no doubts, that we are much expected in Armenia, too.
Summing up event, the ASPU Vice-Rector Ara Yeremyan and the Director of the Library Tigran Petrosyan also expressed their acknowledgments for replenishing the Library with a huge collection of books after which and happily stated that starting from that point , those books would be the property of the reading visitors.
