Within the framework of the programme entitled “Days Honouring Prominent Figures in the Battle of Sardarapat and the First Republic of Armenia,” Director of the ASPU Academic Library, Lieutenant Colonel Tigran Petrosyants delivered a lecture about generals and marshals of Armenian descent.
The event held during the month [May] which is associated with glorious victories for the Armenian people, was attended by intellectuals from the Diaspora, students and employees of the Ministry.
Tigran Petrosyants spoke about the role of Armenian generals and marshals in World War I and World War II. In his speech, he said that for many years he found it expedient to find and introduce to public more information about Armenian heroes who stood out with their heroic deeds.
The historian also referred to self-organization attempts of Armenians in the battles of Sardarapat and Aparan, stressing the role of Armenians with the highest military ranks in these battles, as well as contribution of high-ranking military officials to the Artsakh war and the Second Republic of Armenia.
“You presented the history of the third generation of generals and marshals. Modern-day generation must know our heroes, learn lessons from them and follow their example, know the military history of our people and be proud of our heroes,” said Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan.
At the end of the event, Tigran Petrosyants donated the Ministry’s library Armenian and English copies of his book “1000 Armenian Generals and Admirals.”
