The presentation of "General Psychology" – a university manual by ASPU Professor Susanna Pilosyan, was held at the Pedagogical University on April 12.
The Armenian language textbook focuses on the basics of psychology, discusses the stages of development of psychology, psychological theories, cognitive processes, etc.
The presentation, which coincided with the author's birthday, was attended by the ASPU rector, teaching staff representatives, students and graduates of different years.
ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan said the publication of the textbook is an important and expected event for both the teaching staff and students of the Faculty.
The rector added the manual that stands out from the point of view of methodological fundamentals meets all the requirements of a modern textbook.
Professor Gevorgyan highly appreciated Susanna Pilosyan’s irrevocable contributions in science and education and thanked her for writing the book, for preserving psychological knowledge in the pedagogical domain, for seeing it in healthy hands, and for transferring professional knowledge from generation to generation.
She is sure that the textbook provides the best opportunity for starting dialogue in the field of general psychology on the way of bridging authors and students.
"General Psychology" is based on modern theoretical and practical achievements of psychology. It was first published in 2017 as an educational manual. Later it was twice enriched by the author.
Specialists say that all fundamental sections of the theory of psychology are presented in a plain and accessible scientific language, which is important in the learning process. The educational manual is intended for university students, educators, specialists working in the "human to human" system, people interested in the formation of modern man as an individual and personality.
Ruzanna Petrosyan, Dean of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology thinks the publication of the textbook is a significant event and an important achievement for the Faculty.
She is sure that it will fill the lack of Armenian language textbooks and will become a unique map and foundation for students majoring in general psychology.
“The book has already paved its way. It has been tested within the framework of the "General Psychology” course. This is one of the reasons why its content is more understandable and comprehensible for students; it will become a table book,” Ani Avagyan, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, said during the presentation.
She says Susanna Pilosyan created the textbook with scientific honesty, decency, great responsibility and exceptional care her typical of her.
Tigran Petrosyants, Director of the ASPU Library, added in turn the books written by Pilosyan are in great demand; they get worn out in the hands of students.
Susanna Pilosyan says the book is the result of cooperation with the Pedagogical University, and ASPU is its co-author.
She confesses that ASPU has given her every opportunity to become a specialist in psychology. During those years, she has met a number of distinguished people in the field of psychology, who have left their mark in the textbook.
Professor Pilosyan expressed her gratitude for the words of appreciation and expressed hope that she has compensated her Alma Mater with her activity.
Ruben Aghzumtsyan, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, one of the reviewers of the book, says the textbook differs from the previous ones. The professor advises specialists to read the book. As a representative of the field, he made new discoveries for himself when reading the book.
During the event, the attendees also watched a film about Susanna Pilosyan's scientific and pedagogical activity, the scope of her scientific interests, extensive and comprehensive research, her rich experience and contribution to the development of science and pedagogical education.
