The representatives of the German “CIVIC” Institute for International Education is organizing a three-day training session and a series of simulation- games at the Faculty of Art Education of the Pedagogical University.
This initiative, named “Building Neighbourhood: debating and negotiating for democracy, participation and pluralism”, organized as a result of cooperation with the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA), will give the opportunity to the ASPU students to raise up the main issues and prerequisites of the European neighbourhood policy, permanent involvement opportunities for bordering states and their populations through simulation games.
The three-day training session is conducted by Mr. Holger Michael Ant, one of the Directors of the “CIVIC”, and the member of the CIVIC branch in Berlin Ms. Ani Ohanyan.
The latter mentioned in her interview to the old.aspu.am that after the training the students would get familiarised with the world’s widespread educational methods, European values, and democracy.
“It is essential for a future teacher to be familiar with the pedagogical political education, all processes taking place in society and be an honourable citizen.”
On the first day of the training session, the trainers prepared the students for talks with one another via interactive methods, cooperation in various areas, as well as debates; and particularly on the following days the students were going to study other methods through role plays, thus getting ready for the “elections” due on the last day”.
By summing up the first day, Ms. Ani Ohanyan expressed her satisfaction with the APSU students, and mentioned that they demonstrated a very active, focused and serious involvement in the debate and negotiation processes.
One of the participants of the event headed “Building Neighbourhood: debating and negotiating for democracy, participation and pluralism” is Aram Mamikonyan - a future art critic.
In his turn, he observed that the training session was a novelty in his daily student life and that the meeting with the representatives of the organisation was a great opportunity to get acquainted with the European educational methods, peculiarities and differences, especially due to the fact that he had been long interested in academic practice of other countries.
Likewise, Aram noticed that the game method was even more creative and gave more opportunities for students’ self-realisation and development. Besides, he was assured that such methods should also be used in our practice, therewith, making the development of education more dynamic.
Training sessions and series simulation –games were held in Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova as well, and the Pedagogical University was welcoming the representatives of the “CIVIC” for already the second time.
Last year, the students of the Faculty of History and Law got familiarised with the values and peculiarities of life on the European continent, as well as strategies for regulation of conflicts of interests.
