About the University Development Strategic Plan

,,The key objectives foreseen in the 2011-2015 strategic plan were already implemented and their continuous development, as well as several processes carried out at the University in the previous years, together with the raised issues have served as basis for the strategic planning for 2016-2020,” the Head of Department for Education Reforms Quality Mkrtich Avagyan stated at the Academic Board session today.

The latter step by step presented all activities referring to the ASPU development strategic plan, together with the existing challenges, and principles of fulfilling the objectives.

New approaches of high quality education, modern research and innovation, human resources management, oriented applicants and students, effective management, financial stability, up-to-date infrastructures, etc.- Mkrtich Avagyan presented the aims, objectives and necessary steps of the plan consisting of 7 points.

The Academic Board approved the submitted document, and the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan emphasized its discussion at various levels of the University.

Process of Training Young Professionals

The ASPU Vice –Rector for Education and Science Srbouhi Gevorgyan presented the results of average biological age analysis of the ASPU teaching staff highlighting that 30 out of the 51 Chairs have high risk indicators; here the average biological age varies from 51-65 years old, while the average age of lecturers at the Chairs with medium risk, which are approximately 14, fluctuates from 46-50 years old.

The Vice-Rector introduced her suggestions aimed at improvement of the process, particularly to be consistent with and strictly emphasize the students’ knowledge of foreign languages and information technologies, motivate MA students demonstrating exemplary and higher involvement in research activities to rejuvenate the professional staff, to involve young and promising specialists in all kinds of scientific projects on mandatory basis.

Likewise, the involvement of young specialists in all kinds of grant programmes, trainings, processes of coordination of planning the University strategic perspective interim activities, planning of the natural process of changing the generation, application of research forms in rating calculation components as well as usage of PDCA tools at the Departments are all aimed at motivating beginner lecturers in research activities.

Other Current Issues
The Vice-Rector Mher Melick-Bakhshyan presented the Regulation for the Foundation Department for 2016-2017 academic year together with the tuition fees for relevant specializations and curriculum, as well as full-time and distant learning BA and MA curriculum observing that new professions will be introduced at the University in the coming academic year.

In addition, Mher Melick-Bakhshyan submitted the draft orders related to courses in paid education system for the academic year 2016-2017 according to admission places by professions and amount of tuition fees for submission.

In her turn the Vice-Rector for Education and Science Srbouhi Gevorgyan introduced and the Academic Board approved the Regulation for the Research Centres, 4 topics for dissertation and vouched the presented manuals for publication.

Further on, as a result of a secret ballot, the Candidate of Art Satenik Melickyan, Candidate of History Nelly Minasyan, nominated for academic titles, were granted the titles of Associate Professors, and the Associate Professor Vachagan Navasardyan was granted the title of Professor.

Rouben Mirzakhanyan conferred 1 academic title of Professor and 11 Associate Professors after which he congratulated the jubilees of the day.
And last but not least, the Professor Arkady Shekunts who carried out pedagogical activities at the University for several years, and who has just recently turned 80, was awarded the Ministry’s “Golden Medal” in the name of the RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan.
