Aida Hovhannisyan’s performance premieres

The performance “I Remember and Demand” by Professor of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Aida Hovhannisyan premiered at the National Puppet Theater after Hovhannes Tumanyan, with interesting solutions provided by the director and based on the work of poet Anahit Vardanants and well-known Armenian and Russian poets. The actors were the students of the Directing Division of the ASPU, and the topic was the eternal pain of the Armenian people, that is, the Armenian Genocide.

The symbols and message of the performance were intertwined, and the main message was the following: No to human catastrophe! No to genocide!

The silence in the auditorium is the response to the actors…everyone is shining on stage, there is frankness in the character embodied by each actor. For nearly two hours, the actors bore the weight of the 110-year-old tragedy on their shoulders, but the ending was life-giving and optimistic.

Woven from grave human sufferings, this play was yet another gift from Aida Hovhannisyan to the audience, which accepted it with pleasure and applause. This was the director’s way of touching upon optimism…it was her way of saying there will come a day when Armenians will wipe the tears from their eyes and build their happy future in a reborn homeland.
