Alumni return to their Alma Mater

The Faculty of Art Education continues the series of exhibitions entitled "Gifted Graduates", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU.

This time, the exhibition of the works of Nonna Davtyan, the founder of Stepanavan-based NonnaArt Studio and a graduate of ASPU, and her students opened in the exhibition hall of the Faculty.

About 50 works (including paintings and drawings) of students aged 6-18, were presented at the exhibition, which was notable for a variety of themes.

Dean of the Faculty Ara Hakobyan, who taught Nonna Davtyan, says she [Nonna] was one of the best students, whose students' works full of sincerity and national spirit should only be admired.

Ara Hakobyan also stressed the professionalism and academic approach of senior students, adding that art is the most beautiful thing in life. "Your pedagogical skills and creativity promote artistic development among young people. Many of your students are already on the way of creating artworks. They study in different professional educational institutions of the country, regularly participate in national and international exhibitions. This is the important mission of an educator," Mr. Hakobyan said addressing Nonna Davtyan wishing her years of tireless work for the benefit of the young generation and Armenian culture.

Satenik Melikyan, an associate professor at the Chair of Art History, Theory and Cultural Studies, also hailed the works, emphasizing the fact that works of students of different age groups were exhibited side by side.

Nonna Davtyan, who completed her master's course in 2010, considers the years at ASPU to be the best period in her life.

After the opening ceremony, the young creators walked around the Faculty. The students of the art school visited the sculpture and pottery workshops, where they had the opportunity to make interesting things and get acquainted with the students' works.

Let us add that the exhibition was also attended by representatives of the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation (ANQA). Addressing ANQA Director Ruben Topchyan, Ara Hakobyan said that during the preliminary assessment of standards for the "Fine Art" specialty, they were talking about new methods. "Here is the result - students who are able to have their own school and educate the younger generation."
