Today, Anoush Danielyan presented the defence of her French thesis in Physics and Mathematics at the Pedagogical University; the thesis defence was co-supervised by the Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Edward Kokanyan and Professor of the University of Lorraine Michelle Eyler.
Anoush Danielyan was born in Qajaran. She obtained her base education at the Polytechnic Institute and continued to her MA course at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics, Chair of Physics. In addition, Anoush Danielyan has been teaching at the ASPU Chair of Physics for already four years.
This defence was exceptional in a sense that the Pedagogical University was hosting a defence of candidate thesis of a PhD student jointly from the University of Lorraine PhD course (the French side) and the RA NAS.
The PhD student of the University of Lorraine Anoush Danielyan presented her work on the topic of “Photorefractive and Electro-Optical Properties of Lithium Niobate Crystals Alloyed with Metal Ions”, which was the result of her five years’ studies and research. We would like to mention that Anoush conducted a part of research at the Lorraine University in France, another part was conducted at the Padova University in Italy, and yet another part – at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, as well as at the RA NAS Physical Research Institute in Ashtarak.
“The topic of the defence was very important from both fundamental and practical perspectives. First and foremost, such crystals can have a wide application in holographic information storage systems, and second the conducted research has a fundamental meaning from the perspective of describing and identifying photorefractive phenomena” noted the Armenian supervisor of the paper, Professor Eduard Kokanyan and added that both experimental and theoretical work had been carried out, and the processing mechanisms of the abovementioned phenomenon had been disclosed.
What is more, articles on research activities of Anoush Danielyan were printed in well-known European journals, as well as she delivered a number of reports in international seminars.
The Defence Committee consisted of three Armenian and three French members. In compliance with the French laws on protection of topics, the professional Defence Committee consisted of two co-authors from Armenia and France each, two first opponents, and two experts: Yannick Mugnier (France), Kamo Aharonyan (Armenia, Polytechnic University, ASPU invited lecturer), Narineh Babajanyan (ASPU Associate Professor) and Ninel Kokanyan (Lorraine University Professor), as well as the invited member Sergey Kostritski from Moscow.
Wrapping up, at the end of the defence discussions were held during which the members of the Committee unanimously decided that the work was conducted on a high level and that the results had had their practical and fundamental meaning.
Last but not lease, Anoush Danielyan was nominated for the title of PhD of Physics and Mathematics.
