KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

A few days ago the students and lecturers of the Faculty of Primary Education welcomed the Professor of the Saint-Petersburg University, Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Mathematics after V. Steklov, world-famous Professor of Algebra, Functional Analysis and Probability Theory Anatoly Vershikin.

The Professor delivered his lecture on “Importance of Mathematical Education for Overall Personal Development”.

The rapporteur spoke about a number of issues on teaching mathematics, particularly, referring to the importance of the history of mathematics, the role of mathematics in the world, necessity of developing modern methods of teaching mathematics, studying the past experience as well as contemporary development tendencies of the science of mathematics.

The lecture raised great interest among those present. The professor, in his turn, replied to the questions of the participants.
