“In 2017-2018 academic year, the specialisations of Chess and Environmental Studies will be introduced at the Pedagogical University; this is a novelty in the higher education system. For already a long while, these courses have been taught at all secondary schools of the country, however, it is difficult to speak about the demand of the professions”, mentioned the Responsible-Secretary of the ASPU Admissions Committee Artashes Martirosyan during his interview to the “Armenpress”.
He presented the details of the process of submission of applications for undergraduate courses for the academic year 2017-2018, and mentioned that the application admission had started on 5 May, it was still too early to speak about the activity of applicants and their professional orientation.
Likewise, Artashes Martirosyan noticed that even though the results of the previous year were satisfactory, nevertheless there was a tendency of decrease in the number of applicants throughout the country, and that would be way more obvious in the following academic year.
Besides, the Responsible-Secretary of the ASPU Admissions Committee noted that in the given year the Pedagogical University had been allocated 1510 paid and 95 free of tuition fee places.
Among those present at the press conference was also the Responsible-Secretary of the YSU Admissions Committee Vachagan Galstyan, who introduced the admissions processes in the mother university.
And last but not least, the speakers spoke about the professions that were much in demand; in this light, Artashes Martirosyan mentioned that the 95% of the ASPU professions were related to educational institutions with the main labour market being schools.
“However, the specialisation in Armenian Language and Literature, Sociology, Psychology, Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology and other professions continued being in high demand a the Pedagogical University”, added Artashes Martirosyan.
