KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

On December 23, Arayik Harutyunyan, acting Minister of Education and Science, received a Russian delegation led by Alexey Lubkov, Rector of the Moscow State Pedagogical University (MGPU) and President of the Eurasian Association of Pedagogical Universities (EAPU).

Ruben Mirzakhanyan, Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, was also present at the meeting.

Greeting the guests, Arayik Harutyunyan congratulated Mr. Lubkov who was awarded an honorary doctorate by ASPU.

In his speech Arayik Harutyunyan stressed that in the context of ongoing reforms in the general education sector, it is important to train both the pedagogical staff and the working teachers.

The Acting Minister stressed the importance of improving the quality of foreign language teaching, particularly that of the Russian language. He thinks the two pedagogical universities can play a serious role in this context.

Arayik Harutyunyan added that in the 21st century it is impossible to imagine education without IT. He added that in this context, one of the priorities is to create modern electronic content.

Alexey Lubkov thanked the acting minister for the reception and conveyed the greetings of Russian Minister of Enlightenment Olga Vasilieva. The rector hailed the cooperation between the two pedagogical universities in the context of Armenian-Russian friendly relations, underlining that there are all grounds for its expansion.

At the end of the meeting, Arayik Harutyunyan congratulated everyone on the upcoming holidays. He said within the framework of the planned visit to Russia, he will have an opportunity to visit the Moscow State Pedagogical University and get acquainted with the Russian educational institution, the RA Ministry of Education and Science reports on its website.
