“Art therapy is a method of treating depression through art, doll therapy combines several directions of art therapy,” the students said introducing the audience to the origins, directions and goals of this mysterious method and application of doll therapy in Armenia.
Puppets, large, braided yarn dolls and other types of dolls are used to enhance the wellbeing of people and develop their social skills, imagination, creativity, fine and gross motor skills, speech, communication, etc.
When asked why their choice fell on dolls, art therapists said dolls help people learn to manage their emotions, encourage them to express themselves in meaningful ways, overcome internal conflicts, fears and regulate family relations.
During the event, participants also made a doll. Combining various accessories provided to them in advance they created a doll that expresses human emotions and ideas.
Janna Paylozyan, Head of the Chair of Logopaedics and Rehabilitation Therapy, thanked the lecturers for the initiative, commending their profound practical experience. The participants assured everyone that dolls have a special role and importance in everyone’s life, they accompany people for a lifetime.
