The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and Armenian State Pedagogical University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last week.
The MoU was signed with five educational institutions offering progarammes in specific areas, like social work, psychology, social pedagogy, special needs pedagogy, etc. The signing of the MoU is a practical step in the development of the institute of social work in Armenia. It will contribute to the comprehensive development of scientific and practical fields, as well as effective investment of integrated social services system primarily through the involvement of professionals specialized in social work and auxiliary specialties.
Within three months after signing the document, the educational institutions will review the lists of graduates in the aforesaid professions presenting information to the Ministry on their current location and occupation, as well as their willingness and ability to work in integrated social services.
The Ministry, in its turn, is obliged to select the required number of candidates on the basis of information received from corresponding educational institutions, and to organize training courses for them in the field of social protection, particularly in organizing and implementing social work and auxiliary professions in the integrated social services system, and later recruit the candidates who have successfully completed the course at various levels of the integrated social services system. In addition, based on applications from various education institutions, the Ministry will organize training and production practices for students studying social work and other auxiliary professions in social service structures adjunct to the Ministry, and will regularly fill the vacancies for social workers.
