On February 2, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Armenian State Pedagogical University and Vazgen Sargsyan Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
The document was signed by ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan, and Head of the Military University, Colonel Artur Yeroyan. The MoC aims to strengthen organization of education internship of students (cadets).
Under the document, the parties will cooperate in educational and scientific fields.
In addition, lectures and professional training courses (both practical and laboratory) will be organized, if needed.
Within the framework of the document, the parties will also organize training courses for lecturers, discuss dissertations topics, supervise master's theses and approve topics, bestow academic titles, organize joint scientific conferences, and publication of works.
In her speech, ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan stressed that they expect to have practical cooperation; the University has always cooperated with various defense structures in different formats.
The rector added that they emphasize ASPU’s participation in an important mission that implies training of the young generation, patriotic activity and preservation of ethnic identity.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan says despite the differences in the activity fields, they will complement each other and the Pedagogical University is ready for a mutually beneficial partnership.
The university also has a unique laboratory in the region, which can be interesting and effective in the military field as well.
Artur Yeroyan regrated to say that there are many problems in the field of education, with the quality of education being very low.
He hopes that the support of ASPU professors and the transfer of pedagogical skills in various formats, as well as training of Military University professors at ASPU will bear fruit. “We will have specialists who, in addition to field and military experience, will have pedagogical and communication skills and master teaching innovations," he said.
Artur Yeroyan also emphasized involvement of Military University students in a number of subjects in the teaching process at ASPU as well as in organization of joint laboratory work.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibilities of methodological support, mutual professional assistance and counseling, as well as organization of joint summer schools.
