The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Pedagogical University Ms. Srbouhi Gevorgyan participated in the expanded Board Session of the Eurasian Universities Union held at the Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University.
Among the main topic on the agenda was the report from the Union member Universities of 2017; the report was presented by the President of the Association, the Rector of the Moscow State University Mr. Victor Sadovnichi.
During the session issues related to the quality of higher education, accessibility maintenance and involvement of the best practice were discussed. Similarly, topics about education quality surveillance mechanisms, educational programmes and standards compliance issues were highlighted together with the universities’ network interaction, as well as the establishment of joint educational platform and distant learning technologies were paid particular attention to.
Mr. Victor Sadovnichi presented the events organised by the Eurasian Universities Union in 2018, where the ASPU as an active partner university presented 6 projects such as international conferences, young specialists’ seminars, students’ webinars and other initiatives.
The President of the Association highly appreciated the work implemented by the Pedagogical University during the previous year, hoping that the upcoming projects would also be effective.
In addition, during the visit the ASPU Vice-Rector Srboushi Gevorgyan introduced her colleagues with the University’s leading practice in its key areas of study, as well as the wide scope of cooperation, scientific and educational achievements, etc.
Within the scope of these events, Ms. Srbouhi Gevorgyan met the Rector of the Saint –Petersburg State University of Economics Mr. Igor Maximtsev and the Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical University after A. Herzen Mr. Sergey Bogdanov.
“Our Russian colleagues highly appreciated the cooperation among the above-mentioned two Universities and the Pedagogical University, specifically emphasizing the “Summer School” initiative, and involvement in various international programmes and events”, mentioned the ASPU Professor and added that they had also offered to implement other points stipulated by the agreement.
In their turns, the Rectors of the Universities in question highlighted that it was necessary to enrich our existing practice with the review of dissertation works and other scientific papers, as well as compilation of research programmes and international grants, arrangement of joint scientific publications, expertise on scientific and methodological works in psychological and pedagogical field, training of the teaching staff, etc.
Moreover, Mr. Sergey Bogdanov stressed out the necessity of providing grants and implementing mutual projects within the framework of cooperation between the Pedagogical University and the Institute of Childhood of the Russian State Pedagogical University of A.I.Herzen, based on the previous successful experience of cooperation with Belarus.
What is more, both Rectors stated that they were planning to visit the Pedagogical University and to develop more effective cooperation right on the spot.
In her interview to the old.aspu.am the Vice-Rector assured that being a member of the Eurasian Universities Union contributed to the improvement of the quality of education, to stepping in line with the international educational practice and expansion of partnership relations.
