ASPU Associate Professor Artashes Ziroyan Passed Away

The ASPU Associate Professor of the Chair of Biology, Chemistry and its Teaching Methods, Doctor of Biology Artashes Ziroyan passed away at the age of 72.

In 1972, he graduated from the Armenian National Agrarian Institute, after which throughout years, he held various position at the RA NAS Institute of Botany.

From 2000 to 2002, Artashes Ziroyan was the RA Deputy Minister of Environment, and in 2016-2019 he was the Acting Head of the ASPU Chair of Biology and its Teaching Methods.

Artashes Ziroyan enjoyed the love and respect of both the professoriate and the students. As a matter of fact, the Pedagogue had great contribution in educating and upbringing the younger generation.

The scope of his scientific interests extended to the contemporary issues of biodiversity and the specially protected areas of the Republic of Armenia; additionally, he authored numerous scientific articles.

The management and the academic staff of the Pedagogical University are conveying their deep condolences on the decease of the scientist and outstanding pedagogue. The memory of Artashes Ziroyan will remain lit in the hearts of his colleagues and students.

The funeral ceremony will take place at the memorial home next to the Geatargel Church (Kotayk region) on 18 August, at 18:00 o’clock, departing from the same location on the next day, 19 August, at 13:00 o’clock.
