Measures aimed at preventing and curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic continue at ASPU. During the regular meetings at the Rector’s Office, special emphasis is put on the observance of anti-epidemic measures, the need of wearing masks and completion of the required registers. Also, participants of the meetings discuss and analyze the results and data collected and decide what further action to take.
According to the recent decree of the RA Ministry of health, upon entering the territory of the University, ASPU representatives should either provide a COVID-19 PCR test certificate with a negative result taken within the previous 72 hours, or a vaccination certificate.
In order to get acquainted with the etails of the requirement and to clarify the professional provisions in it, the Chair of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Protection organized a seminar to present and discuss the professional provisions in the decree, precautions and medical contraindications, specifically absolute and provisional/temporary contraindications, as well as to provide comprehensive information on vaccines and types of tests available in the world and in Armenia in particular.
Narine Sahakyan, Head of the Chair of First Aid, Emergency Situations and Civil Protection, Doctor of Biology, spoke about the urgency of vaccination stressing that the aim of vaccination is to prevent severe disease and death.
At the initiative of the Chair, an informative meeting was held with MD Mary Ter-Stepanyan, an epidemiologist at the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection, Associate Professor at the YSMU Chair of Epidemiology. Addressing ASPU staff representatives the guest speaker referred to the tense epidemiological situation in Armenia, daily counts of COVID-19 cases and deaths and the main measures to avoid further deaths.
It is due to mention that thanks to the active work of the University administration, various informative seminars and meetings with the epidemiologist, as well as other measures taken, the number of vaccinated workers has increased considerably at ASPU.
PCR testing was organized and conducted in two stages. Preparations for the third stage are currently underway at the university. As of October 16, 528 out of 1043 ASPU employees were vaccinated. As of October 29, 638 (60%) out of 1043 employees vaccinated.
“Employees’ participation in COVID testing and vaccination shows their high sense of responsibility. We expect vaccination rates to go even higher at the Pedagogical University,” said Narine Sahakyan.
