ASPU delegates participate in international scientific-practical conference

From November 29 to December 2, Vice-Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) for Education and Science Mariam Ispiryan and Associate Professor of the Chair of Russian Language and its Teaching Methods Lilia Balasanyan participated in an international scientific-practical conference in Moscow.

The event was organized by the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and held with the participation of scientists and young researchers from the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Germany, Italy, etc.

The 9th international scientific-practical conference was entitled “Bi-, Multi-, Translingual and Linguistic Education” and was dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of Professor of the RUDN Genadi Melnikov and bilingual writer Chingiz Aytmatov.

ASPU Vice-Rector, Associate Professor of the Chair of Russian Language and its Teaching Methods Mariam Ispiryan delivered a speech that was entitled “History of Development of Armenian-Russian Bilingualism in the Republic of Armenia” and co-authored with Lilia Balasanyan.

In her speech, she emphasized that scientists view linguistic interactions as a comprehensive phenomenon in the 21st century. According to her, it is impossible to explore the topic without taking into consideration the meanings of the interrelated concepts “situation of language”, “condition of language”, “linguistic interaction” and “linguistic phenomenon”.

Mariam Ispiryan noted that innovations in linguistic education spark great interest among scientists in our countries and are introduced in teaching practice, and in the theory of education, respectively. “We believe that the change of linguistic policy was a major and crucial factor for post-Soviet countries after recognition of independence which, in its turn, led to the emergence of other factors as well. Today, it is clear that languages are changing to a certain extent, under the influence of other languages, but they are not being assimilated,” Mariam Ispiryan stated and voiced hope that the proposals made during the conference will foster the practice and development of linguistic education.

Mariam Ispiryan highly appreciated the contributions that the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) has made to pedagogy and teaching methods.

During the visit, the ASPU delegates had meetings at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), discussed issues related to possible cooperation in science and joint printing in periodicals and more and reached an agreement on reciprocal visits.
