ASPU graduate receives Certificate of Honor by Defense Ministry

Khachik Khamisyan, a graduate of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) who teaches Armenian History at the ASPU Base College/High School, has received a Certificate of Honor by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia for his personal contributions and for showing the best results during the drills held between June 10 and July 4.

On Monday, July 7, Khachik Khamisyan was hosted by ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan who gave him his graduation certificate (diploma). The rector said that Khachik Khamisyan, who graduated with honors, could not attend the certificate handover ceremony, but Khamisyan showed exemplary behaviour during those days while defending the borders of his Homeland.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan noted in her speech that the number of male teachers in the Republic of Armenia is decreasing year by year. The ASPU rector is faithful to her promise: the University is ready to do everything possible to facilitate the further professional development and activity of male teachers in schools. "It is important that they are given an opportunity to fully realize their potential, both in schools and at universities,” she said.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan advised Khachik Khamisyan to try his hand at science in parallel with teaching, adding that the University is ready to cover the financial expenses.

The meeting was attended by Naira Safaryan, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at ASPU, Advisor to the Director of the ASPU Base College/High School. She said that the best education is based on personal experience. Khachik Khamisyan is a true image of a modern-day teacher, who enjoys the love and respect of the teaching staff and pupils.

Khachik Khamisyan entered the Faculty of History and Social Science of ASPU in 2017, then joined the RA Armed Forces and continued his studies two years later. He took interest in "History" while he was studying at school, his love for the profession was passed on from his teacher. That's how he decided to become a history teacher.

This year, Khamisyan defended his Master's thesis with honors, participated in the army drills with love and responsibility, and returned with honor, fulfilling that mission to the best of his ability. “I participated in theoretical and practical training courses, then I was on combat duty for 14 days in a special unit. Military service implies a sense of responsibility. Being a historian and a patriot, and finding myself at the border again, I again appreciated the love, courage, and pride I have for my Homeland. When I returned, I tried to pass it on to my pupils, colleagues, and friends through my own example," Khachik Khamisyan said in conversation with old.aspu.am.
