The authors of the handbook are Lilit Naghdalyan and Artak Simonyan, both graduates of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU). Today, they visited their Alma Mater to present the book which is intended to become the best teaching assistant tool for teachers in preparing thematic and practical works. It will also help schoolchildren deepen their knowledge of the subject.
Varduhi Hovhannisyan, Assistant Professor at the Chair of Geography and its Teaching Methods, considered the meeting to be a small geographic holiday; the Chair attaches importance to the connection and communication, dialogue and continuity between generations.
Lilit Naghdalyan and Artak Simonyan, both experienced teachers today, are among the best graduates of ASPU. Varduhi Hovhannisyan says their pupils score high results in the Olympiads; many continue their studies at the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography of ASPU.
The co-author of the book, Lilit Naghdalyan, has worked in different schools, including in Artsakh. When presenting the education manual created in collaboration with her fellow student, she assured the future geography teachers that the book will facilitate and simplify the teaching process at school. The book includes concepts, facts, problems, testworks, etc.
Artak Simonyan says it a great honour for him to be in a familiar environment, in his beloved educational institution again but not as a student. The university has left an indelible mark in hi life with its value system. He says it was difficult [for him] to admit that he was no longer an ASPU graduate and after graduation, he chose to study science at ASPU again.
He confesses that being a young professional he has tried to make his modest contributions to the development of the University and the subject. He has aroused love for geography in many children who have joined the ranks of ASPU students.
He is honest, being a young professional, he tried to invest his modest money in the development of the university and the subject. awakened a love for geography in many of the students, and they joined the ranks of university students.
"Geography is a book and its pages open at every step," Artak Simonyan said and added that geography has a special value for him; it is a science about world perception and cognition, it creates an environment where other sciences develop.
Artak Simonyan says initially they decided that the collection should a book of tasks. As a result, they had a comprehensive and useful manual with tasks for schoolchildren and supporting materials for the voluntary certification of teachers.
“Not only is it [the book] thick, but also weighty,” said Nerses Samvelyan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
He says there is a wrong opinion among people that a school teacher is limited only to teaching. Today, we have a brilliant example that proves the opposite: teachers who, not only educate and nurture the young generation, but also create lasting value, the greatest wealth for generations.
Nerses Samvelyan also emphasized the fact that geography is presented as one unified system in the collection.
His speech was followed by a Q&A session.
