ASPU history reflected in hand-knotted carpet

Anzhelika Avetisyan, a graduate of the Department of Design and Decorative and Applied Arts, dedicated her final work to the Pedagogical University.

She knotted a carpet within the framework of texture design subject. The hand-knotted carpet presents the history of ASPU and Faculty of Art Education, with ornaments and symbols characteristic of the new era.

It focuses on education, upbringing and science which have a primary role in human development. Lecturer Naira Mkhitaryan said preserving the structure of the traditional Armenian carpet, the student tried to show the educational, scientific and technical opportunities of the Pedagogical University.

The three important elements - education, upbringing and science are repeated in the carpet. The symbolic carpet, which presents the old in a new light, shows the student’s skills in carpet weaving.
