“When I was a child, my grandmother frightened me by giving the name of Turks. I am sure that our enemy today frightens their sons giving the name of Armenians,” Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan, one of the Armenian commanders in the 1992-1994 war in Nagorno-Karabakh nicknamed Komandos, said at the Pedagogical University today. Today, the Major-General was invited to the University by the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology. He was proud to say that Armenian soldiers have inborn courage; it is in their genes.
The Karabakh war hero spoke about the ongoing tensions along the Line of Contact between Karabakh and Azerbaijan armed forces, Azerbaijan’s illegal actions, Armenia’s pledges to retaliate against deadly border attacks and Azerbaijan’s provocations. He also recalled episodes from the liberation of Shushi and military operations in different years.
“You had better address the question concerning the liberation of Shushi to our soldiers who felt the support of ordinary people day and night. People did their utmost to back soldiers on the battlefield leading an equal fight with us,” Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan said. He assured everyone that the Armenian nation is a strong nation; simply, we deviate from the right path from time to time and stumble.
The Major-General, who communicates with young people on different occasions, regrets to say that today life and desires do not match; young people largely depend on their parents who care for everything, while our youth do not feel a yearning for a better future.
The hero who went through war, pain and hardship, also remembered the letter sent to the front by his wife, in which along with the warm words of his children and wife, he also found an important thing – a scheme to win the enemy.
Ruzaanna Petrosyan, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, thanked the guest for the ‘patriotic lesson’ assuring him that the meeting instilled high patriotic spirit in future soldiers and their mothers.
Students also thanked Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan for his patriotic activity, promising to maintain the victory earned through bloodshed of the hero and his comrade-in-arms.
“Willpower and patriotism cannot be glorified but for our wise leaders and military figures. Thanks to them, a handful of eagles reached their target,” said Mels Mkrtumyan, Head of the Department of Theory and History of Psychology. He advised the students to take examples from the best [people].
