KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

A concert-meeting with Mari Sarkisian-Chinkezyan, an Armenian-American composer, a pianist and a member of the Union of Composers of Armenia, took place at the Levon Kojoyan Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Art Education of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).

Collaboration with Mari Sarkisian-Chinkezyan started during the online meetings with Anahit Gevorgyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Education at ASPU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.

The event was attended by Aram Satyan, President of the Union of Composers of Armenia, musicians, teachers, poets, Mari Sarkisian-Chinkezyan’s coursemates, university lecturers and students.

The host of the concert was Anahit Gevorgyan, who also writes music textbooks for schools.

In a beautiful cultural setting, the U.S.-based composer performed some of her songs which have been included in music textbooks. The composer's songs were also performed by music groups and children from different schools. Also, MA students of the Chair of Music Education accompanied the singers on the piano.

During the meeting, Mari Sarkisian-Chinkezyan spoke about her birthplace -Ayntap and her roots, answered students' questions, and told interesting stories about the songs that had been performed for the audience.
