From February 28 to March 3, the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow jointly with the Moscow Cultural and Business Center (“Dom Moskvy”) in Yerevan held courses to upgrade educators’ skills and qualifications.
Fifteen lecturers of the ASPU Chair of Russian Language participated in the teacher training course entitled “Integrative Potential of Modern Linguistics: Person, Concept, and Speech." The trainers were leading specialists of the Chair of Linguistics of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute, among them Doctor of Philology, Professor Vladimir Karasik, Candidate of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor Svetlana Kamishova, and Candidate of Sciences in Philosophy Levon Sahakyan.
On March 3, at the invitation of Naira Dalyan, Head of the Chair of Russian Language, they visited ASPU. During a roundtable discussion organized within the framework of the visit, Prof. Dalyan said it was symbolic that the meeting was being held at the “Pushkin Institute” Russian Language Teaching and Testing Centre under ASPU.
The Centre was established years ago to expand collaboration between the two universities. The opening ceremony was attended by a delegation of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute led by Rector Margarita Rusetskaya.
Speaking about the trainings, Naira Dalyan hailed the high readiness of the Chair specialists adding that language teaching at the Chair is done effectively.
Not only lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages but also MA students participated in the discussion. The participants discussed a range of issues, including the problem of bilingualism, current issues in modern linguistics, innovative methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language, language gaps, etc.
The parties expressed hope that they will work together to expand cooperation which, in turn, will contribute to the implementation of new projects.
