ASPU hosts international scientific-practical conference

An international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU was held on October 10 on the initiative of the Chair of Foreign Literature of ASPU.

Specialists and MA students from the leading universities of Armenia, Russia and Ukraine participated in the conference held in a mixed-mode format.

Mariam Ispiryan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs, welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of scientific conferences, which have become a good tradition.

The latter said it was no accident that the conference was held at the “Pushkin Institute” Russian language teaching/testing centre; the present and future of the two friendly countries constantly "meet" at there.

"For 15 years now, the Chair has organized various scientific events, published scientific collections that are doubly important and valuable as they contain studies of young researchers as well. Today we live in difficult times; we need knowledge that will make the world better", the vice-rector said wishing everyone to have a constructive dialogue and an active field for exchange of experience.

Tigran Mikayelyan, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, underscored the scientific importance of the topics discussed in the frames of the conference, and expressed hope that the University’s foreign partners will have their direct participation in important initiatives to be held at the University in the near future.

Ruzan Tadevosyan, Head of the Chair of Foreign Literature, hailed the conference in terms of publishing scientific collections. She says that collections are intended for teachers, postgraduate students and all those who are interested in the achievements of modern literature and linguistics. "They reflect the findings of the latest research carried out in the fields of translation, history and theory of literature, comparative literary studies and linguistics," she added.

In their reports, the participants of the international scientific-practical conference raised a number of problems in literature, addressed issues in translation and literary connections, presenting Armenian and Russian literature as an inseparable part of world literature.

The reports were followed by an interesting discussion and Q&A session.
