A public lecture series organized by the ASPU Faculty of History and Social Sciences was summed up by Professor Amy Austin Holmes, a Public Policy Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (the Wilson Center). Participating in the lecturers were famous professors.
The professor arrived in Armenia to attend an international conference entitled “Armenia and the Region: Lessons, Values and Prospects.”
While at ASPU, Amy Austin Holmes delivered a lecture entitled "The Transformation of the Turkish-Kurdish Conflict since 2015 and its impact on Armenians and Assyrians in Northern Syria."
In her speech, she spoke about the events in Northeast Syria, stressing the fact that Syria is outside the central government’s control, and the Turkish-Kurdish conflict, focusing on the demographic and ethnographic picture of the regions in question.
The professor also presented the stance of local Armenians, forcibly formed self-protection groups, and anticipated threats to Turkey.
