On December 21, Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) received a delegation of the Eurasian Association of Pedagogical Universities (EAPU) led by Rector of the Moscow Pedagogical State University (MGPU) and EAPU Chairman Alexey Lubkov.
The guests were received by ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan. The sides discussed a number of issues related to cooperation between ASPU and MGPU. Ruben Mirzakhanyan presented the strategic directions and priorities of the educational institution that he heads and the peculiarities of the Faculty of Culture and the Faculty of Art Education. He also referred to the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of Russian language teaching at ASPU and assured the guests that the University has already achieved tangible results.
Alexey Lubkov, in turn, thanked the Armenian side for the warm welcome and introduced the members of the Russian delegation. He expressed hope that the meeting would give a fresh impetus to the cooperation between the two universities in question. Both rectors emphasized the importance of interuniversity ties, particularly the exchange of students.
The sides also signed a memorandum to continue cooperation between ASPU and MGPU.
“The document enables the sides to collaborate in different fields, exchange students, lecturers and professors, organize and implement joint scientific projects and programmes,” Mr. Mirzakhanyan said. By a decision of the ASPU Scientific Council, Alexey Lubkov was awarded the title of Honorary Doctorate.
Alexey Lubkov thanked for the award and underlined once again that rich traditions were established not only between the two countries, but also between the two universities.
“The memorandum of cooperation opens a new page for our universities, enabling students and lecturers to collaborate in various fields. We should evaluate the development of ties and cooperation considering the respect for culture and traditions of the two countries and centuries-old friendship,” Mr. Lubkov said adding that there are good grounds for developing further ties.
