ASPU hosts young chemists from Karabakh

Pupils of Secondary School N1 of Martuni city, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, visited Armenian State Pedagogical University on November 25. They arrived in Yerevan to participate in the Seventh All-Armenian Tournament of Young Chemists.

The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, which has been providing methodological support to the tournament for many years, hosted the pupils from Artsakh. The guests were taken to the Biology and Geography labs and then to the ASPU Museum.

A trocolour, chemical Eskimo, blood, foam, volcano, absorptive power of evaporation... Lecturers and students shared their professional secrets with the pupils at the newly-opened labs, presenting in detail the various experiments they had come across in their textbooks.

The pupils were accompanied by Karine Poghosyan, Principal of Secondary School N1 of Martuni, and Karine Karapetyan, a chemistry teacher. Talking to old.aspu.am, the latter said they were deeply impressed with what they had seen at the University. “Pupils like Chemistry as a subject but it is not always possible to apply the theoretical frameworks in practice. I think this is yet another step to instill love towards seemingly difficult subjects, as well as a good opportunity to raise interest in these subjects among their classmates,” she said.

Karine Karapetyan was convinced that the visit to the University would help their pupils to feel more prepared for the upcoming tournament and help them in their career orientation.
