At the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Mary Karapetyan, a lecturer of Vocal Studies at the Chair of Music Education, was in Makhachkala, Dagestan, from June 30 to July 5.
The ASPU lecturer and the vocal student ensemble “Voices of Armenia” participated in the XXI International Festival of Folklore and Traditional Culture "Highlanders". This year, the festival is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov, a national poet of Dagestan.
The international festival brought together more than 20 participants from Belarus, South Ossetia, Bulgaria, Chechnya and other countries.
The representatives of the Pedagogical University performed ten musical pieces, including famous works by Komitas, Arno Babajanyan and Rasul Gamzatov, based on Alexey Hekimyan's composition.
Also, various masterclasses, tours to cultural centers, familiarization with national rituals and customs were organized within the framework of the cultural event.
ASPU lecturer Mary Karapetyan highlighted participation in such festivals, saying they help develop and enrich professional skills.
In his letter of appreciation [addressed to ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan], Head of Kulinsky district Shamil Razmanov highly appreciated the performance of the ASPU delegation.
