The Pedagogical University has been named winner of the "Fine Arts Projects" grant of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The University’s "Armenian Fairy Tales" collection consisting of 10 fairy cards is intended for 3 age groups: preschool, junior and middle school.
The idea belongs to professors of the Faculty of Art Education and the methodologist of ASPU Primary School N57. Although new, the fairy card is already popular. It contains the main meaning of a fairy tale, and the reverse side features an illustration [close to the content].
“The project was implemented within six month, with serious research being carried out. It is a novelty in Armenian reality, which we hope will attract readers," Armine Baghdasaryan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Art History, Theory and Cultural Studies, author and coordinator of the project, said in a conversation with old.aspu.am.
Methodologist Karine Chibukhchyan adds in turn that the initiative is very serious; they have chosen fairy tales with educational value which have not lost their subtle accents and artistry after abridgement; rather, they are aimed at developing love for reading in children.
The illustrators of the "Armenian Fairy Tales" are Eduard Muradyan and Misak Melkonyan, both lecturers of the Faculty of Art Education. The latter confesses that the work was rather difficult; creating something intended for children is difficult in any field. "A fairy tale has deep philosophy. It was difficult to illustrate the fairy tale, taking into account the age characteristics, philosophical counseling, idea and the palette characteristic of the given age group," said Misak Melkonyan. He is sure that the reader will love and appreciate the work.
In the near future, the "Armenian Fairy Tales" collection will also find its place in public schools.
