ASPU opens Soft Skills Lab

The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) today opened a Soft Skills Lab, and the red ribbon was cut by ASPU Vice-Rector for HR Management and International Cooperation Marianna Harutyunyan and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mikayelyan.

The educational environment was created through the Desire Program for Capacity Building in Higher Education – Erasmus+, which is funded by the European Union and in which the ASPU is engaged.

The aim of the Program is to promote the development of national education systems in Armenia and Georgia with regard to the methodology, strategies and technologies for teaching and instruction based on soft skills.

Vice-Rector Marianna Harutyunyan is certain that the Lab, which is technically equipped and houses the necessary literature, will serve its goal. According to her, through the Desire Program, a number of Armenian and Georgian universities are working intensively to develop modules, as well as introduce elective courses for students to improve and enhance their ‘soft’ skills.

Adaptability, critical and creative thinking, leadership, communication skills, time management — these are a few of the ‘soft’ skills that the attending students listed, in response to which Marianna Harutyunyan attached importance to fundamental professional knowledge and command of those skills for teaching.
