An international scientific- practical conference-competition headed “Young Scientists in the Regional Economy” was held by the joint efforts of the Pedagogical University’s Chair of Sociology and Social Work and the Vologda Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Representatives of universities from four countries including Armenia, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine participated in the online conference, the moderator of which was the Head of the Chair of Sociology and Social Work Professor Armen Sahakyan.
The Pedagogical University was participating in the conference with five lecturers and eight students of the Chair of Sociology and Social Work; in their reports they referred to the reproductive health within the context of demographic crisis and discussed the difficulties of teaching chess according to the results of sociological surveys.
In addition, the students of the University after Kh. Abovyan spoke about the medical-social work and the role of that profession in Armenia, as well as about conflict peculiarities in Armenian families, development trends and issues of social advertisement, and introduced the innovations in social services for population.
The Vice-Rectors of the Pedagogical University Srbouhi Gevorgyan and Ara Yeremyan, the Head of the Research Centre Kamo Vardanyan emphasized the importance of organizing the conference considering it as an exceptional opportunity for young scientists to make their first steps.
The International scientific and practical conference aimed at setting a discussion platform for young scientists, undergraduates, MA and PhD students, as well as giving them an opportunity to discuss and analyse the results of the research about the social and economic regional development issues and their solutions.
Furthermore, the best speakers were selected out of all participants; the lecturer of the Chair of Sociology and Social Work Gohar Mkoyan won the first prize in the online conference-competition arranged among the four countries, as well as, the ASPU MA student Manya Nikoghosyan won the third prize therein.
Similarly, the Lecturer of the same Chair Christine Tanajyan also won a prise, together with the co-authors of the report Nune Gevorgyan and Nelly Melckonyan; all the other participants received participation certificates.
We would like to mention that the articles and reports delivered at the conference will be published in the Elibrary.ru electronic catalogue registered in the scientific –research database RSCI (РИНЦ).
