"Today, I want to talk less but show you more," Professor Artur Martirosyan, Acting Head of the Chair of Fine Art, said on May 22 during the opening of his solo exhibition at the Artists’ Union of Armenia.

Since an early age, the artist had been dreaming of opening a solo exhibition at the Artists’ Union of Armenia but his long-cherished dream came true on his 60th birthday.

The exhibition entitled “18-60” features the Artur Martirosyan’s works painted at various stages of his life (between 18 and 60), including his recent works - landscapes, portraits, etc.

“A patriot and God-loving person, a skillful and sophisticated educator, citizen and intellectual,” Zakaria Baghumyan, Director of Christian Education Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, said when describing Artur Martirosyan.  The Proto-Archimandrite congratulated the painter on the opening of the exhibition and emphasized that in the current chaotic situation such events remind yet again that our people love culture, make them love our Homeland even more, and feel the power of its soil.

Suren Safaryan, President of the Artists’ Union of Armenia, also congratulated Artur Martirosyan on his birthday and on the opening of the exhibition, stressing that the artist’s works make viewers live. Every meeting with the artist makes you smile and fills you with energy and optimism,” Mr. Safaryan added.

"You are one of the distinguished figures of modern Armenian fine art, and your works have their rightful place both in our country and in foreign museums and private collections. Your contribution to the struggle for Artsakh and the Pedagogical University is also undeniable," Suren Safaryan said emphasizing Artur Martirosyan’s contributions and assistance in transferring the accumulated experience and skills of outstanding masters to next generations.

The exhibition was attended by the artist's colleagues, students, and art lovers, for whom Artur Martirosyan has been a popular figure for a long time thanks to his mastery, his unique ability to see and feel Mother Nature.

Dean of the Faculty of Art Education Ara Hakobyan described Artur Martirosyan as a human being and an artist who is in constant search for something. "His paintings reflect his soul and essence. He is a singer of Mother Nature. For him, the primary thing is the outburst of emotions, which is very important for a creator," Professor Hakobyan said focusing on Artur Martirosyan's most important mission – that of an educator.

The exhibition will run until May 27.
