Ruben Poghosyan, a famous psychologist and professor at the Chair of Applied Psychology of Armenian State pedagogical University, died an untimely death.
On July 17, the head of the “AYG” Centre for Psychological Services was stabbed in his office by one of his patients. The professor was immediately rushed to hospital where he died a few days later.
Ruben Poghosyan studied at the Faculty of Pedagogy, ASPU from 1967 to 1971. In 1987, he defended his thesis on the topic “From the General to the Particular: Study of Psychological Peculiarities of Reality of Thinking” and earned his degree. He worked at the University until his death, giving lecturers and carrying out fruitful pedagogical activity. He was a member of a number of professional associations and organizations and headed one of the leading centres in the country that offers counseling and psychological services. Ruben Poghosyan also wrote a number of scientific publications and works.
Armenian State Pedagogical University expresses deep sympathy to the professor’s relatives, colleagues and students.
The requiem service for Ruben Poghosyan will take place at Saint Sarkis Church in Yerevan on July 21 (at 6:00pm).
