ASPU Rector has a meeting with students

On December 22, Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University Ruben Mirzakhanyan met a group of students of the University to listen to their concerns and suggestions on the educational process and its organization.

During the meeting, Mr. Mirzakhanyan and the students started an active discussion during which the students of different faculties addressed numerous questions to the ASPU Rector.

Part of the students of the Television Directing Department expressed a desire to do practice in different TV companies, others wanted to know whether the University would have its medical point. The students also said that some programs are the same in Bachelor's and Master's degree courses and suggested that the repetition be excluded. They also wanted to know what mechanisms are needed to introduce to make admission to the Pedagogical University more accecible for Diaspora Armenians.

The students also asked about the right to deferment, the possibility of combining work with studies, assessment of students’ social activity, organization of practice, Google Classroom platform, etc.

The University Rector listened to everyone giving exhaustive answers to each question.

“The University is taking steps to create conditions for future television workers to be able to earn money by shooting [videos, films and other material] parallel to their studies. I assure you that we shall have a medical point at the University,” Ruben Mirzakhanyan said.

The Rector also stressed the importance of differentiated approaches in master's programs, adding that the educational process should be made as perfect as possible in terms of professions. “The number of foreign language classes will be divided if we have the required number of students. Besides, it will be correct to maintain the right to deferment if we demonstrate objective approaches,” he said.

Mr. Mirzakhanyan congratulated the students on the occasion of the upcoming holidays and donated each particip ant “Armenian Seascape Painters» - a book by Doctor of Arts Ara Hakobyan.
