ASPU Rector participates in Armenian-Russian educational forum

An Armenian-Russian cultural educational forum started in the Aram Khachaturian House-Museum on April 28.

The forum aims to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of culture, improving the educational environment, training staff members and introducing technology innovations in universities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Osintsev, rectors of Russian and Armenian universities, representatives of education and art spheres.

Addressing the plenary session ASPU Rector, Professor Srbuhi Gevorgyan emphasized the importance of the forum in terms of creating an opportunity for dialogue for representatives of the cultural sphere, educational institutions and experts.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan then presented the educational institution she heads, specifically focusing on the activity of two art-oriented faculties -Art Education and Culture, and the professions they offer. In parallel, the participants watched a short video about the faculties.

In her speech, Professor Gevorgyan also referred to the 44-day war in Artsakh in 2020 and its consequences, emphasizing that like other Armenian universities, the Pedagogical University had serious losses in the war; 42 representatives of the University, who were supposed to fill the ranks of the teaching staff, sacrificed their lives for the Homeland.

The rector considered the blockade of the Republic of Artsakh to be as a serious problem, as a result of the ongoing blockade and disruption of vital infrastructure a number of students, including those of the Faculty of Culture, do not have the opportunity to participate in educational and examination procedures.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan thinks such conferences are also a platform where professional and human dialogues unfold for the sake of peace and humanity. She expressed hope that thanks to discussions, an active partnership will be formed and a number of programs will be implemented.

Within the framework of the event, representatives of Russian universities will hold master classes in Yerevan universities. during the meetings, the partners will also discuss possible avenues for further cooperation in culture - cinematography, music, dance, theater and other areas.
