ASPU Rector receives futsal team

Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University Ruben Mirzakhanyan today received the ASPU futsal team which was named winner of the futsal spring and fall tournament held within the framework of the 16th Republican Student Sport Games of RA Higher Educational Institutions.

Mr Mirzakhanyan congratulated the team on the victory and thanked the girls for upholding the reputation of the University.

“Victories will not arouse interest if they do not have continuation and prospects. We will create facilities and conditions for future victories,” Mr Mirzakhanyan said. He then suggested that the team set new goals and participate in different tournaments and said the University would provide maximum support to the team.

The ASPU Rector also awarded the coach and participants with souvenirs and gratuity.

“Many attribute the victory to me, but these children had the greatest contribution to the victory,” Suren Barseghyan, the coach of the ASPU futsal team, said during the meeting. He added that the enthusiasm and diligence of students, as well as the readiness and support of the University leadership inspired him to triple the hours of training which produced the expected and desired results.

Suren Barseghyan also spoke about the current situation of futsal in Armenia and in the world, as well as the problems faced by the team.

Ani Gevorgyan, a second-year student of the Faculty of Culture (Film &Television Production Division) has been playing football for four years.

She learnt about the University’s team during the years of her study. It is already two years Ani has been playing in the team.

The future director says directing is the integrity of professions, which helps a lot in football. “The feeling of victory is difficult to describe in words. Thanks to joint efforts, hard work, team spirit and unity we were able to win,” Ani added.

Hayarpi Kareyan, a second-year student of the same Faculty (Artistic Photography), has been playing football for six years. She was the goalkeeper of the team during the decisive game. Speaking about her impressions, Hayarpi stressed that a team sport changes a person’s character:  a team fights and achieves the long-cherished goal.

The team handed over the Cup to the University Rector. The prize will soon find its place at the ASPU Museum.
