Lilik Khachatryan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Music Education, came second at an international competition held in Pesaro, Italy.
The annual festival-contest “Open Italy” brought together 200 instrumental performers from nine countries. Armenia was represented by concertmaster Lilik Khachatryan and shvi (an Armenian instrument) player Minas Abroyan, who performed “Intermezzo” by Grigor Hakhinyan.
The jury highly appreciated their performance and admired the boy who performed such a complicated work with a small national instrument. As a result the Armenian participant was awarded the 2nd prize in the National Instruments category.
“Although I have participated in many prestigious competitions, this one was special as it brought together representatives of different ages and nations.
We were able to register great success for us and our country with joint efforts,” said Lilik Khachatryan. She is glad that they were able to present a work by Armenian classical composer.
