Vahan Teryan is 140 years old. To celebrate the birth anniversary, the solemn opening of the restored house-museum of the poet and the traditional “Teryan Day” event were held a few days ago in Teryan’s hometown of Gandza. Associate Professor of the Chair of Armenian New and Modern Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methods after Vache Partizuni of the Faculty of Philology at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Knarik Abrahamyan and students of the Faculty of Philology were also attending the event. For them, the study visit to the house-museum of the poet was both a professional experience and an opportunity to get in touch with the life and inner world of the poet. “It is difficult to overestimate the role of Teryan on the path of outlining the history of Armenian new literature and the future of Armenian literature. Besides, the high mission of making the language of literature reach perfection is reserved for Teryan,” Knarik Abrahamyan told old.aspu.am. She also assured that this visit will help future teachers present the poems of Vahan Teryan to pupils much more thoroughly and completely.
