ASPU representatives participate in international conference

On June 27-29, the second international conference entitled "Armenian Transitions and Socio-Political Transformations between 1900 and 2020", organized jointly by Armenian State Pedagogical University and Haigazian University was held in Beirut.

The first conference was held in Yerevan a year ago within the framework of the cooperation of two universities. It attracted the attention of the professional community with its high scientific level.
Due to the movements of Armenians, the socio-political transformations attract a wide range of scientists every year.

Haigazian University in Beirut, Lebanon, the only higher educational institution of the Armenian Diaspora, brought together under the same roof more than two dozen scientists from scientific and educational institutions of Armenia, Diaspora, Artsakh, including historians, political scientists, Turkologists, philologists and pedagogues.

The representative of Artsakh, which is isolated from the world and under siege today, participated in the conference in an online format.

ASPU was represented by Edgar Hovhannisyan, Dean of the Faculty of History and Social Sciences, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Prof. Khachatur Stepanyan, Head of the Chair of World History and its Teaching Methods, Doctor of History, and Hakob Tadevosyan, Adviser to the ASPU rector, Associate Professor of the Chair of Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences.

In their reports, the ASPU representatives referred to the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in the 1920-1930s (migration and transformation), the stages of transformation of Armenians caused by the changes of the 20th century, as well as the socio-psychological transformations of the perception and manifestation of patriotism.

The speeches were followed by a Q&A session.

“Cooperation between ASPU and Haigazian University is being strengthened. Organization of joint conferences is a manifestation of the effective implementation of the relevant points of the MoC.

"The sides have agreed to hold the third conference with the same name and to publish the presented materials," Dean Edgar Hovhannisyan said in a conversation with old.aspu.am.

The participants from Armenia made study visits to a number of Armenian spiritual-religious and educational institutions operating in Lebanon.
