KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The kick-off workshop of the “Establishment of National Framework of Key Performance Indicators for Good Governance and Quality Towards Inclusive, Digital and Green Oriented Higher Education in Armenia” (KPI4HE) Erasmus+ Program was held today.

The facilitator of the three-year program is Yerevan State University, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport; the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation (ANQA) and 5 universities of Armenia, including the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan (ASPU) and the “Armenian Center for Educational Policy and Management” NGO, and the European partners are the University of Oldenburg, the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Genova.

The aim of the KPI4HE Program is to improve management of the higher education system and strategic planning of universities which will foster the advancement of quality and inclusive, digital and green oriented higher education in Armenia through the development and introduction of the National Framework of Key Performance Indicators for Higher Education (NFKPIHE), the launch of services for the development and planning of mechanisms for institutional research, as well as the review of state criteria for the accreditation of institutions (in accordance with the NFKPIHE).

Rector of Yerevan State University Hovhannes Hovhannisyan; Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Artur Martirosyan; Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Armenia, Ambassador Vassilis Maragos and Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia Lana Karlova greeted the participants, attached importance to the changes being introduced in the education system and wished fruitful work.

Head of the ASPU Department for Education Management and Reforms Samvel Asatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mikayelyan, Acting Head of the Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development Sirine Shogheryan, as well as employees of the Centre for International Cooperation and Project Management Raisa Avetyan and Gohar Arakelyan were also participating in the workshop.

The goals and results of the project, the action plan, the activities for the first year, the work-related packages and the rules for financial management were presented during the workshop.

Group activities were carried out in the directions of university management, capacity-building based on institutional research, green strategy planning, organizing of the educational process, strategy on internationalization of higher education and quality assurance.

At the end of the meeting, every group presented its plan and summed it up by making recommendations and asking questions.
