A four-month training series consisting of five modules started at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) within the framework of cooperation between ASPU and “EXHEO” Education and Career Development Foundation.
The program implemented with the support of the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation is aimed at upskilling the existing workforce, i.e., upgrading the soft skills in higher educational institutions.
Emotional intelligence (EI), motivation to learn, change management (CM), critical thinking, visualization and development of imagination skills, application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in teaching and learning, interactive teaching methods… On the first day of the meeting, the trainers presented the primary goal of the training, the scope of topics, and talked about expectations and expected outcome.
Marianna Harutyunyan, Vice-Rector for HR Management and International Cooperation at ASPU, highlighted the importance of the training and the topics, emphasizing that there has been a gap both in the society and at the university in that direction.
She voiced hope that the participants realize the importance of the training series: along with knowledge, it will equip them with the necessary skills, which is also imperative in education: “I am sure that those four months will be a period of new discoveries [for you], which will be reflected in the teaching process,” she stressed.
Trainer Kristina Tsaturyan, who has been working in the education sector for 15 years, says that soft skills are important and in demand today. In that context, it is important how we respond to changes and how we implement them. She is sure that interactive training series will help the participants learn from each other, and the surveys will help make the program more needs-based.
Let us add that at the end of the program, the participants must present their projects in a hackathon structure summarizing the knowledge and skills acquired during the course, and demonstrating their application in the everyday teaching and learning process. The participants will receive 3-credit certificates at the end of the training course.
