On November 17, 30 students received state educational awards in the field of information technology (IT) for their outstanding academic performance during the Annual Educational Award to the best IT students in Armenia.
The award ceremony was attended by Karen Trchunyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Dr. Chi-Foon Chan, President and co-Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys Inc. and other top officials.
This year, 102 students from different Armenian HEIs took part in the nationwide event competing in the following nominations: Grand Prix, Best PhD Student, Best Master’s Student, Best Bachelor Student, and Best Diaspora Student.
Sofia Tovmasyan, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at ASPU, received the second-place “Best Bachelor Student” award.
The State Educational Award in the field of IT was established in 2005 under the auspices of Synopsys Armenia.
Guided by the motto "Discover the best and inspire the next", the State Educational Award is intended to motivate and empower young engineering students in Armenia.
The awards are given to those high-achieving students have excelled in education and research work, have participated in various competition and Olympiads (in Natural Sciences), written of scientific articles and are active in community-based programmes.
