KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Ani Khachatryan is graduating from the Department of Applied Arts of the Faculty of Art Education this year.

During the presentation of her graduation work, Suren Safaryan, Chairman of the Thesis Defense Committee and President of Artists' Union of Armenia, offered Ani to join the Union, particularly the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts.

Being a member of the Artists' Union of Armenia while a student is unprecedented as there are mandatory conditions for joining the structure, one of them being participation in exhibitions.

The student's final work was a tapestry entitled "Ethereal Flower." Her supervisor was Anush Yeghiazaryan, Professor at the Chair of Fine Arts, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. The committee members highly assessed the theme, the correct combination of materials and idea.

In a conversation with www.old.aspu.am, Ani Khachatryan said while working on the tapestry she focused on diversity and new compositional solutions, and used such thread combinations which enabled her to breathe new life to the soaring butterflies.

Ani Khachatryan says she is going to attend a Master's course in the same department, but before that she is going to finalize the folder which will help her prove that she really deserves the honorary title of being a member of the Union of Artists.
