ASPU Students’ Film Wins the First Prize

The first-year students of the Pedagogical University Faculty of Culture, Chair of Cinematography, Artistic Photography and Socio-Cultural Activities, Department of Cinematography Maria Sargsyan and Moushegh Khachatryan participated in a contest comprising various fields of art organised by Vahe Fatal at the Tumo centre in Yerevan.

Winners of first, second and third prizes were selected in each field of art.

The documentary film presented by our studnets won the first prize of a million and a half award fund. They named the film “This is Mike”.

The film is about an Armenian young man, who prepares decorations for events out of trash and useless stuff. That young man is Mischka Batichka. He does not know Armenian languages, he speaks only Russian. In the movie, the hero says only one word in Armenian – “Barev” [hi].

Moushegh and Maria could not expect they would win, but they were surfing in the web with a hidden hope. And there they found out that they won the first prize.

Both these students live in Yerevan. Moushegh participated in the April war. Today they are good friends, and their friendship was backed up by successful cooperation at the Pedagogical University. Besides, their course leader Shavarsh Vardanyan, the participant of the Artsakh war and the Shushi liberation, having shot several films about war, also played a big role therein.

The students decided to purchase new equipment with their prize, which would allow them to fulfill all of their ideas.
