ASPU students participate in first inter-university contest-festival

On May 30, the Student Philharmonic of Armenian State Philharmonic organized the first inter-university contest-festival of Armenian songs. The programme included songs of classical, folk and pop genres.

The event brought together 130 students from 13 public and private universities. Twenty-two of them entered the final stage.

The ASPU Centre of Culture in cooperation with the Department of Music Education of the Faculty of Art Education and Faculty of Primary Education organized hearings among students to choose the candidates meeting the requirements of the contest.

The first stage of the competition took place at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (RAU) and the gala concert was held at Arno Babajanayan Concert Hall. Zhanna Khachatryan, Director of the ASPU Centre of Culture was included in the jury.

Each participant of the contest festival performed two songs, one of which was any work by Komitas. Many of ASPU students received various prizes.

Alvina Tigranyan and Shogher Sargsyan, both students of the Faculty of Art Education, came 2nd in the competition, while Victoria Adamyan, Astghik Sahakyan and Meline Hovhannisyan finished 3rd.

Aslo, ASPU students Mary Vardanyan, Ani Avdalyan, Dazy Ohanyan, Ofelya Hovsepyan, Hripsime Sukiasyan and Hasmik Ghazaryan were awarded certificates.

“The contest-festival of Armenian songs is unique in its kind and aims to identify talented students, who will take their worthy place in the field. I am sure that next year our participants will receive higher awards,” Zhanna Khachatryan said in conversation with old.aspu.am.
