Five graduate and eight undergraduate students of the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) participated in the international autumn school programme “Historical-Cultural Psychology: A Practical Approach to Education” held at Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) from 7 to 17 November.
The programme was held within the framework of events marking the 120th anniversary of renowned psychologist L. S. Vygotsky. It was attended by professors from Australia, Bulgaria, England and Italy.
The autumn school programme was accompanied by lectures, seminars, role-playing games, roundtable discussions and a symposium, as well as an international conference dedicated to the famous scientist.
During the visit, the Russian partners familiarized the ASPU delegates with the structure of the MSUPE, its history and functions, as well as with the life and activity of famous psychologists.
The ASPU representatives were also taken to other psychological institutes and laboratories in Moscow, the MSUPE Center for Neurocognitive Research “MEG (magnetoencephalography) – Center” where they participated in different meetings, lectures and were introduced to different instruments and methods used in psychology.
Also study visits and familiarization trips were organized for the guests. The ASPU delegates were introduced to the history of the town, historical and cultural monuments, traditional way of life and other landmarks of the city.
The students say the 10-day visit to Moscow provided them with an opportunity to learn about the history of the Russian school of psychology, methodology, experience, and helped them broaden the scope of knowledge, skills and competencies and listen to lectures by foreign specialists.
