ASPU students participate in "Star Trek"

A series of events entitled "Star Trek" was held at Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank on January 26-27.

The event held for the 57th time was attended by students from different countries. ASPU was represented by Lusine Khachatryan, a student of the Faculty of Special Education, and Varduhi Mkrtchyan, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. The aim of the event was to familiarize the participants with important historical landmarks in Belarus.

On the first day of the visit, part of the participants visited the city of Lida, got acquainted with historical and cultural monuments, and participated in events organized in two schools of the city. The other groups visited different regions of the country.

On January 27, a group of 300 participants visited Borisovsky, Dzyarzhynsk and Slutsk districts. They participated in roundtable discussions and meetings, sports and cultural events.

Talking to www.old.aspu.am, Varduhi Mkrtchyan said participation in similar programmes is very important as it allows future educators to get acquainted with the educational system, history and culture of other countries on the spot. “We visited Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, got acquainted with their educational programmes and organization of the educational process. As a future physicist, I was particularly interested in their physics lab and its conditions. We also visited several schools in Belarus, and as pedagogues got acquainted with the similarities and differences of organization of education in the two countries,” she said.

Varduhi added that Belarusian students are very interested in astronomy, as there is no observatory in Belarus. “Both sides want to strengthen ties built during the event and organize joint lectures on astronomy. They are interested in our experience and the results of cooperation between ASPU and the Byurakan Observatory,” she said.

Let us add that within the framework of the "Star Trek" events, cultural meetings were organized, during which the participants presented the history and culture of their countries. ASPU students Varduhi Mkrtchyan and Lusine Khachatryan introduced the history and culture of Armenia, as well as the history of ASPU that has a history of one hundred years.
