The launch of the "Art Management" project intended for students studying at art universities, including ASPU students specializing in Art Management, has been announced.
On March 4, specialists introduced students, representatives of the university and other organizations to the project content, goals and implementation process.
In cooperation with a number of state theatre and concert organizations, the project will enable students to take master classes from highly qualified specialists and apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in practice.
Ara Khzmalyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, says the project, which is unprecedented in size, aims not only to train the directors and the information sector, but also to involve students in the management system in state cultural structures.
“With this project we are solving a serious problem. For the first time, we are trying to involve students of Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan and Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography in the public administration system. It is important that students apply the theoretical knowledge which they acquire during the years of study in practice. Just as film education cannot be imagined without film production and restorers cannot become specialists with only theoretical knowledge, likewise future managers cannot become specialists without practical knowledge,” said the deputy minister.
The official says there is a serious staffing problem in art management as it is not clear what route students of the Faculty of Art Management take after graduation while they often encounter problems in choosing a director of a state institution and the biggest problem is to find a professional manager.
Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, Head of the "Art Management" project, says the project is scheduled to start in mid-March with a number of courses intended for students. Experienced specialists from the private sector have been invited to conduct the courses. Students will take master classes for 4-5 weeks. In parallel, they will do an internship at theatre and concert organizations under the MESCS of Armenia.
She added that together with heads of SNCOs and PR specialists the students will develop strategies for each organization and a fundraising plan which will help management of SNCOs and project specialists cooperate on a new platform.
